Pinot
Gris is made in temperate growing regions all over the world.
While there are many producers of this fine white wine, the best
examples undoubtedly come from French Alsace and Oregon's Willamette
Valley. American producers increased acreage dedicated to Pinot
Gris by about 900% from 1997 to 2001, and the list of U.S. wineries
that make Pinot Gris keeps growing rapidly. Listed below are some of
the top producers in the world:
King
Estate Winery, OR - Nestled in the hills southwest of
Eugene, this Oregon winery has long been one of the state's top
producers of Pinot Gris. In addition, their Domaine Pinot Gris is made
from 100% organic grapes.
Lis
Neris, Italy - Run by Alvaro Pecorari since 1982, this
Italian winery has been in the hands of the Pecorari family since
1879. Check out their very cool website.
MacMurray
Ranch, CA -
This is the late actor, Fred MacMurray's estate, and the grapes grown
here consistently produce one of the best Pinot Gris around.
Maison-Trimbach,
Alsace - A leading producer in Alsace since 1626, Trimbach
has helped the French set the standard for superb Pinot Gris.
